You always see those adverts all over the place about how helmets save lives, and blah blah, but yet you never think that you will ever crash badly enough where your helmet will sace youre ass.

Today i was skateboarding down a long hill with some friends and we were going about 20mph (arround 33 kph). While going down, my board started to get speed wobbles due to loose ttrucks, and i coulden't slow down. Up ahead there was a turn in the road, and i knew i coulden't get controll of my board or slow down to make it, so my only option was to jump off the board, and run as fast as i possible could to avoid crashing into the curb. I jumped off, planted a foot and flew forwards face plant style. Since i do parkour (free running) i know how to roll across my back to safely dissipate the force of a fall. Instinctively did a roll the top of my left whoulder contacting the pavement first, then my head, and then the rest of my back. Then i rolled back onto my feet, dazed from the impact. If i would not if had my helmet i no question would of gotten a very nasty concussion or some other kind of brain injury. Also if i did not know how to fall in a safe fasion, i would of gotten alot more injured then i did. When i cought up to my friends, they could not belive how un-scathed i was from my accident.
Some of you might think i am stupid for going soo fast on a little piece of wood with wheeles on it, be that sd it may, but please the next time you get on a bycycle, motor cycle, scate board, go skiing, or what ever please wear a helmet.
